Serving is a great way to grow spiritually. Without doubt, God created each of us to be unique and God granted us all special gifts. We offer a variety of ways to team up with others in the TLC community so that God’s love can be shared in very practical ways. Some are teachers, some are musicians, some are good with children, some offer prayer, some are experienced with a hammer – whatever your gifts are we can help connect you with ways to serve.

One Voice Shelter Coalition: This coalition assists homeless women by offering transitional housing and job skill training with the goal of becoming independent and having their own place to live. We put together laundry baskets for each new resident that are filled with practical items such as towels, soap, and laundry detergent. In addition, groups prepare a monthly dinner meal and enjoy fellowship with the current residents.

Alabama Rural Ministries: Since 2017, Trinity volunteers have partnered with Alabama Rural Ministries (ARM) to aid rural and under-resourced communities. ARM’s mission is to create sustainable homes, strengthen families, and foster community partnerships for God’s glory. They focus on home repairs to ensure safety and comfort, including roofs, ceilings, floors, and accessibility ramps. Volunteers also handle electrical and plumbing tasks. Beyond renovations, they engage in fellowship with homeowners, fostering relationships and community in Christ. Trinity commits to multiple volunteering sessions yearly, including MLK weekend and the Day of Service. Service opportunities are regularly communicated through bulletins and newsletters.

Basement Bike Ministry: This ministry has been reconditioning/repairing donated bicycles since May 2018. Once repaired, the bikes are given to students needing transportation. Over the past six years, the ministry has given away more than 75 bicycles. If you would like a guided tour of the Basement Bicycle Ministry, just ask Matt Gist, Graydon Gettier, or Rick Zellmer. Wednesday afternoons and early evenings you can usually find one of us in the basement working on a bike. If you would like to be part of this ministry, but Wednesdays don’t fit your schedule, we will show you the secrets of accessing the basement, and you can be a mechanic on your own schedule.

The Angel Tree: The Angel Tree at Trinity supports the local Domestic Violence Intervention Center (DVIC). Each year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving we decorate a Christmas tree with colorful paper Angels, representing one wish for a Christmas gift from an adult or child resident of  DVIC. The wish lists range from practical items like clothes and household items to items that will simply bring joy and a smile during what is likely a very difficult Christmas season. It is always a blessing to see the gifts as they fill the space under the tree, ending in hundreds of gifts that we load into the DVIC Vans to be delivered to the families residing there. DVIC’s purpose is to provide a safe space for victims of abuse to live, but they also provide case management, therapy, transportation, outreach, education and court, legal, and child advocacy services to help the residents rebuild their lives, free from their abuser.

Quilting Ministry: This ministry makes and donates quilts to Lutheran World Relief and local agencies in Lee and Chambers Counties. We quilt on Thursday mornings from 8-10 am during the school year and on the first Thursday evening of the month from 6-8 pm. No previous quilting or sewing experience is necessary. Donations of fabric, thread, and money to support this ministry are welcome.
